A nice Sunday in September

Place:Shopping complex.

Yep I had an appointment to hang out with some good old friends from my hometown today. The moment I woke up,I felt cold.It was a quaint morning.Chilly.Yet it's vaguely pleasing,in a manner of speaking.Contradictory, I suppose. But I guess that's just how I felt at that time.Well..it did rain heavily a couple of hours ago.And yeah, the way the blanket wraps one up in times like these..ahh magic incarnate.Perhaps you can also see it the other way.Wrapping oneself from a world full of wonders..yeah great stuff to gaze upon well enough to make oneself shout 'sanguine!' and throw aside the covers.

Alas,I could only reach for my handphone and press the snooze button. :/ Will is weak. :)

Well to give myself credit,I did manage to wake up the next time Jon Bon Jovi and co were blaring something about having a nice day into my ears. :D

Fast forward *whirrr*

I managed to get into a taxi right before it escapes me.I was lucky. As always, when I'm alone that is,I got myself onto the front seat. Not that I'm exactly the kind of person who likes to initiate a conversation with taxi drivers. But,it does feel better to be at the front. It's nice to wish that the taxi driver doesn't feel like just another driver. And yeah I suppose it makes it better to put them at ease and loosen their tongues. The driver started humming a familiar traditional tune. "Salam sejahtera..~". A festive season. And for a moment,I was thinking, "Good for him.Cut other matters aside, what's not to like when the time comes for one to be together again with one's family in the spirit of festivities."

The journey was short. Both of us had no change. He was kind enough to let me purchase a piece of bread and pay what's due to him.RM4.40.Good going,by far one of the slowest taxi meters I've ever seen for this distance.Things seem to be picking up for the day.

Later on I find myself sitting on a bench, waiting.A friend is supposed to be arriving in the incoming train, where I would hop in and meet him at the front carriage as well. The train has erratic behavioural changes, you know..mood swings and the like.No I'm not mentioning about ancient chuggy klutzo trains with the occasional huff-puff complete with soot.Instead,it escapes my comprehension why this particular train seems to take forever to arrive..ALL THE TIME.This train certainly has not the letter P in its name. @_O

Precisely the reason why I find myself rushing into the front carriage when it arrived. No no I'm not letting this one escape.I throwed a glance around and nope..no Samuel. Before I even managed to scan the seats, there came a familiar figure with a bit of hurry in pace. There goes the dudes and what the hecks.I knew that he's actually arriving at this same station correct, but only just knew that it's on a different line with a different train.Oh well the door beeps before closing.Brownie points.

We arrived at the place. The phone sang a simple tune."Got it!" was the message from Gooi.Another plus + for the Sunday.Tickets for proper seats in the cinema = no neck breaking. :)
All right let's see what exactly is District 9 about.

Well I'll start with the non-spoilers basic idea about this movie.Alien Mothership comes to Earth.Alien Mothership hovers above a city which is not Washington, not Paris or even Moscow for the matter, not Beijing, and not Kuala Lumpur as well.Alien Mothership stays there until humans lose patience and gives in to curiosity and inquisitiveness.Alien Mothership happens to house a million-plus malnourished denizens.Alien Mothership emptied by humans with aliens relocated to an area.

And so we find that the aliens happen to be an unruly lot.Stealing stuff,no table manners, and they also do not look as cute as E.T. or the alien from the Stephen Chow movie as well.Humans at large get annoyed due to these reasons(well maybe you can cut the cute part..or not??)and gets back by calling them prawns, sealing off the area pumping up security, exploiting aliens through the abuse of cat food..well the aliens have their rights thrown down the drain basically.Simply speaking the welcome mat was pulled just when the aliens above it start gnawing at it.

That's the gist of the movie. And I'm not saying it is bad.It is good.Seriously,it gives a lot of room for thought.A lot of questions remain unanswered, muted too and there are many themes that one can relate to with many of the things which are happening around us.It is strikingly similar to the events in the not so distant apartheid. And also,it provides an insightful and meaningful look at human nature in a whole. From the moment the alien mothership arrives, see the curiosity, the initial compassion, then see what happens eventually, the lack of a wont to seek a mutual understanding given the aliens misgivings."They burn us with a match,we put them into an incinerator".Of course they are those who differ in this mentality which the movie hints subtly, and see what happens. And cat food..that seriously got me as I chuckled to myself.Nice.

Well that said the non-spoilers are enough reasons why I found the movie enjoyable *hint-hint*.A plus to the flawed main character we see too, though at times I find him a bit out of place at certain scenes. For the rest of the movie..well see and judge yourself. :) Though I do have a bone to pick with the many unintentionally unanswered questions..defies logic haha.

Well the day was mostly like the movie.Since this post is about the movie nway right.Great day, only flaw being the nauseating feeling I felt for awhile after coming out from the cinema due to the bad fish i ate earlier bleurgh.Of course, like the movie, only the substance mattered in the end. :) Great having you guys out after awhile!Until then~

P.S. Thanx Guo Zheng for the nudge for an update it's funny and nice to see you there haha.
